Connecticut Celebrates Puerto Rican Heritage

HARTFORD, CT — Thousands of spectators lined Hartford’s streets at high noon to celebrate the culture and contributions of Puerto Ricans to the state of Connecticut,

The annual Puerto Rican Parade took place on September 21 in downtown Hartford. More than 3,000 participants wound around Park Street and marched down Main Street, ending in Bushnell Park for the Festival de Coqui which featured food, music and other entertainment.

Connecticut is home to nearly 289,000 Puerto Ricans, and has the 6th largest population of Puerto Rican citizens in the nation.
