AŸ-Z’s Roc Nation Sports has officially signed Liverpool player Oliver “Ollie” O’Connor, a central midfielder whose academy seasons at the club have been described as one of the most impressive in recent years.
The 17-year-old, who has now joined one of the top sports representation agencies in the world, has made 25 appearances across all competitions in 2025/26. Besides contributing three goals and three assists, O’Connor logged 1,645 minutes for both the U18 and U19 sides, according to this report.
Launched in 2013, Roc Nation Sports is a sub-division of Roc Nation, one of the world’s most powerful entertainment companies. Inspired by founder JAŸ-Z’s love of sports, Roc Nation Sports supports athletes by elevating their careers on a global scale as it “conceptualizes and executes marketing and endorsement deals, community outreach, charitable tie-ins, media relations and brand strategy — helping athletes solidify their legacy both on and off the field,” its website says.
Some of the athletes it has represented include NBA All-Star and 2021 Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball, Robinson Canó, Vinícius Júnior, Gabriel Martinelli, and Saquon Barkley.
Under the leadership of Desiree Perez (the CEO) and Sports President Juan Perez, the agency has been making inroads in European soccer in recent times.
Bringing O’Connor on board is in line with that mission, and his signing couldn’t have come at a better time, as he inches towards a professional contract decision with Liverpool. He would now surely negotiate with one of the most powerful sports representation agencies in the world by his side.
Roc Nation is one of JAŸ-Z’s multiple businesses, which he co-founded in 2008 with Desiree Perez (CEO), Jay Brown (Vice Chairman), Juan Perez (President of Roc Nation Sports), and Tyran “Ty Ty Smith” (President of A&R), and where he currently serves as Chairman.
The rapper, since his first album, has amassed a vast portfolio of work and invested in several business ventures, which ultimately earned him a spot on Forbes’ Billionaires list. He created his own record label, Roc-A-Fella, in 1994, through which he released his first two albums before building Rocawear in 1999, an apparel brand he later sold the rights to in 2007.
From 2004 to 2007, he was president of Def Jam Recordings and founded Baseline Studios in New York City in 2000 to “cultivate lyrical artistry and produce beats with expert and novice producers who wanted to enhance their technical and musical mastery,” according to Roc Nation.
The musician and billionaire is also a co-owner of The 40/40 Club, which he helped found in 2003 with business partners Juan Perez and Desiree Perez. In 10 years, he launched Roc Nation Sports, an agency currently managing elite athletes globally.
The following year, the music mogul co-founded luxury spirits brand Armand De Brignac and the streaming service TIDAL in 2015. In three years, he helped build Marcy Venture Partners, a venture capital firm named after the Marcy Projects in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, where JAŸ-Z grew up.
