What a Time to Remember!

By Dr. Dee.

On May 29th, Fixing Fathers teamed up with the incredible Ms. Tamra Green to host the 3rd Annual Fantastic Fathers Celebration at Augusta Lewis Troup Elementary School in New Haven. And what a celebration it was! We showed up with some special gifts for our fantastic fathers–chess sets and a beginner’s guide to get them started. But the real magic happened when we broke out the chess boards.  With eight simultaneous games going, we laughed, we learned, and we made memories with new friends while reconnecting with familiar faces. This night wasn’t just about the games; it was about community, connection, and celebrating the amazing role fathers play in all our lives. I’d like to take a moment to extend my heartfelt thanks to the incredible organizations and individuals who helped make this event possible. To Tamra Green, Nathanal Joyner, Bruce Trammell, Mr. Berrios, and, of course, every one of the fantastic fathers (and children) who joined us. You made this event truly unforgettable. To the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, ION Bank, Town Fair Tire, Our Facebook Family, Inner City News, Street to Straight, United Way of Greater New Haven, Reliant Behavioral Health and Community Services, Grant Central of Connecticut, DCF, the Judicial Branch of Connecticut, and Senator Jorge Cabrera, your support means the world to us. A special thank you also goes out to the entire Fixing Fathers team for their unwavering dedication and efforts. It is partnerships like these that truly bring ideas to life and make a lasting impact on our community. Thank you for believing in us, in our fathers, and in the mission we share. Together, we’re creating stronger families and brighter futures.
