A book launch event Tuesday night will focus on the future of local online journalism in America — a future that has already arrived.
The event will feature Dan Kennedy discussing a new book he has co-authored with Ellen Clegg called What Works in Community News: Media Startups, News Deserts, and the Future of the Fourth Estate (Beacon Press). The book features chapters on successful local news initiatives across the country, including the New Haven Independent/WNHH FM.
Kennedy will be in conversation with Independent founding editor Paul Bass at the event, which takes place at Booktrader Cafe, 1140 Chapel St., beginning at 7 p.m. The event is free, unless you choose to purchase the book and/or delicious coffee, tea, baked goods, and sandwiches.
