Michigan has introduced specialty license plates featuring logos of five historically Black Greek-letter organizations: Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, and Zeta Phi Beta.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and state Sen. Sarah Anthony, D-Lansing, on June 18 debuted new license plate designs honoring five Black Greek-letter organizations.

The participating fraternities and sororities are Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.; and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

For $25, members can order a license plate with their organization’s design by mail or in person after downloading the form. Nonmembers can order a collector plate for $10, though those plates can’t be registered for vehicles.

Eligibility and cost:

Members of the listed organizations can order the plate for $25 via the Special Organization License Plate application; plates are 5 characters and not personalized.

Collector/display-only versions are available to the general public for $10; they can be personalized but are not valid for registration.

How to order:

Members: Download and submit the Special Organization License Plate form by mail or in person; details and links are on the SOS site.

Collector plates: Use the SOS collector plate order form and return by mail.
