‘Make A Plan To Vote’ — Early Voting Begins Today In CT

by Donald Eng

With early voting beginning today in Connecticut numerous state officials planned to head to the polls. Last week, a handful of elected officials, including Sen. Chris Murphy, Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam, and Gov. Ned Lamont, urged voters to take advantage of the convenience of early voting.

“We are a state that prioritizes making sure that everyone in this state has an opportunity to participate in our election,” Murphy said.

Arulampalam said the election was a chance for the general population to make its voice heard. “Make a plan to vote, starting this Monday when early voting begins,” he said. “And through Election Day, make sure you know when you can vote.”

Early voting is available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Nov. 1, Those hours are extended to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 27 and Oct. 29. Same-day registration is also available during those hours.

Note that early voting locations may be different from the normal Election Day polling places. Full information, including a list of early voting locations is available on the Secretary of the State’s website.

Voter organizations are predicting high turnout for a midterm election year. According to Vote.org, Connecticut registrations were outpacing 2022 levels by nearly 50% (4,958 to 3,374).

“What we’re seeing in Connecticut mirrors what we’re seeing across the country: voters are engaged, motivated, and making sure they’re ready to make their voices heard,” Vote.org CEO Andrea Hailey said.
