Grammy-winning singer Lionel Richie was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at a St. Louis hospital over the weekend after performing in the city.

Per TMZ, Richie, 77, performed at The Muny in Forest Park on Saturday night. But following his performance, the Hello singer made his way to a local hospital to undergo some tests.

Richie is said to have checked himself into the hospital out of caution, and doctors were checking if he had suffered mild dehydration at the time of this report. Sources also informed the entertainment news outlet that the 77-year-old singer was expecting doctors to discharge him on Tuesday.

Per reported accounts from witnesses at the concert, it appeared Richie was having some difficulties as the show neared its end. He is said to have requested a chair to sit down as he was performing All Night Long, which was his last song.

This recent incident came after Richie suffered a mid-show health scare that resulted in his hospitalization on June 24, Face2Face Africa reported at the time. The 77-year-old subsequently took to social media to provide an update on his health.

Richie shared the update with a carousel of his performance photos at his concerts in Pittsburgh and Detroit, TMZ reported at the time.

“Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love,” the Endless Love singer wrote. I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you. Pittsburgh and Detroit were an absolute joy. The energy, the dancing, the faces in the crowd… we made real memories together.”

Richie added: “See you in Toronto… let’s party all night long!”

Richie’s performance at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota, on June 24 abruptly ended after he complained of dizziness and feeling “strange.” He was ultimately taken to a hospital where he received treatment.

The 77-year-old then postponed his concerts in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio, after doctors told him to take some time off.
