Kendrick Lamar and SZA have broken the touring record held by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, as the two artists’ ongoing Grand National Tour is now the highest-grossing co-headlining tour in history.
Lamar and SZA just completed the North American leg of their tour, which grossed $256.4 million from 1.1 million tickets sold for 23 shows, Billboard reported.
It is now one of two joint tours to surpass the $200 million mark and one of four to cross $100 million. Jay-Z and Beyonce’s “On the Run II Tour” is the other tour to hit $200 million.
The Grand National tour’s figure is $3 million more than what Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s On the Run II Tour grossed in 2018, meaning Lamar and SZA broke the record by a mere 1% margin.
Even though Beyoncé and Jay-Z still top the list for most tickets sold with 2.2 million, Billboard suggests that Lamar and SZA could overtake them in that category by the time this tour wraps.
The “Grand National Tour” is the biggest concert run in both Lamar and SZA’s careers so far. After concluding the tour’s North American run, the duo will continue with a new leg of the tour in Europe and the U.K. starting July 2, before Lamar heads to Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile in September and October. He is also expected to perform two shows in Australia in December.
Singer and actress SZA joined Lamar as a guest performer at the Super Bowl halftime show recently.
