Edmond Timothy Love, Jr., 86

On March 30, 1939, a joyful baby boy was born in Greenville, North Carolina, to the late Lucille King Love and Edmond Timothy Love, Sr. They named him Edmond Timothy Love, Jr.

Edmond attended Greenville City Schools before relocating to New Haven. He worked a few jobs before he became a master cabinet maker with Conco Woodworking. His skill and craftsmanship led him to earn his State Certification in Vocational Education from Central Connecticut State University, paving the way for his career with the New Haven Public Schools as the beloved Woodwork Shop instructor at James Hillhouse High School.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Ronnie Cummings (Tarboro, NC) and Louis Love (New Haven); three daughters, Shirley Love (New Haven), Bertha Love Caldwell (Hamden), and Edgwena Love (Raleigh, NC); four adored grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Love Joyner (Edward, Sr.) of New Haven. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends also remain to honor his legacy.

In addition to his parents and wife, Edmond was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Love, Rosa Lee Love Harris, Eleanor Joyce Love Bradley, and Bertha Love Williams; brothers, Edward Thomas Love, Sr. and Arthur Hicks; grandson, Louis ​“Little Louis” Walton; and beloved son-in-love, Stacey Caldwell.

A celebration of his life will take place Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel St, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Friday at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Entombment will be at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Services by Howard K.
