Award-winning performer Doechii has criticized immigration raids in Los Angeles. She expressed sentiments on stage at the 2025 BET Awards.
She received Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the Peacock Theatre on June 9. Despite the recognition, she took the opportunity to speak her mind about the raid.
“There are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order.
“Trump is using military forces to stop a protest…I want you all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us. What type of government is that?” she asked.
“People are being swept up and torn from their families…I feel like it’s my responsibility as an artist to use this moment to speak up for all oppressed people. For Black people, for Latino people, for trans people, for the people of Gaza, we all deserve to live in hope and not fear. I hope we stand together,” she added.
The songstress is the latest to condemn the ongoing raid in the city. Rapper The Game recently expressed support for protesters in Los Angeles as demonstrators continue to clash with authorities in the city.
He posted some pictures from the protest on his Instagram on Monday before adding his solidarity message.
“Ever since I could remember… it’s been black & brown in this city. From the early days of my childhood til now, we’ve been side by side through it all. All of us. All the time. Not always seeing eye to eye but we’ve shared Los Angeles for a very long time…
“I stand with y’all like I know you’d stand with us. ‘We might fight against each other… but I promise you this.. we’ll burn this…! Down get us pissed!!!!!’ To live & die in L.A,” he wrote.
Fans reacted to the post and hailed him for speaking up. “You always speak about unity. My respect for you. You are the best. I see you always helping people and raising your voice thank you for everything,” a fan wrote.
