HARTFORD, CT — The Board of Trustees of the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame has appointed Kimberly Kersey as its new executive director, effective July 6.
Kersey was selected following a national search for her proven nonprofit leadership, strategic vision, collaborative approach and demonstrated commitment to mission-driven organizations, the organization said in a news release.
“Kimberly’s appointment marks an exciting milestone for the CWHF and builds upon the foundation of reimagining and planning the Board has undertaken over the past year,” said Joaquina Borges King, chair of the CWHF Board of Trustees, in the release.
Borges King said she is eager to partner with Kersey and see her “bring the Hall’s reimagined vision to life.”
“I am honored to join the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame and build upon its remarkable legacy,” Kersey said in a statement. “I look forward to working alongside the Board, staff, volunteers, supporters, and community partners to expand the Hall’s impact across the state, empowering women and girls to achieve more than they ever believed possible.”
Founded in 1994, the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame celebrates the achievements of Connecticut women, preserves their stories, educates the public and inspires women and girls to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
Susan Dunn has served as interim executive director and has been instrumental in preparing the organization for this next chapter of growth and impact, organization officials said.
Kersey previously served as executive director of the Amistad Center for Art & Culture housed at the Wadsworth Atheneum and, most recently, as executive director of the Artists Collective, both in Hartford.
