ORANGE, CT – Three Avangrid subsidiaries are expanding their government relations team by hiring two new members with extensive experience in state government, the company announced.
Gregory “Greg” Davis, program manager for state government relations, joined the team in August and will be assisting United Illuminating, Connecticut Natural Gas and Southern Connecticut Gas, according to a news release. Davis spent two years with the Connecticut House Democrats as an AI policy analyst and outreach coordinator and has 10 years of experience in technology, change management and outreach and recruitment, the release said.
John Vamos, who started on the team earlier this year, has more than 22 years of experience with the Connecticut General Assembly, including as deputy clerk, legislative aide and director of research and policy. He is now vice president of state government relations at Avangrid’s three subsidiaries in Connecticut.
Davis, a University of Connecticut graduate, said he is looking forward to working first-hand on energy-related policies “to ensure UI, CNG, and SCG can continue providing safe and reliable power to our customers.”
“During my time in the General Assembly, it was clear that energy issues are top of mind for so many Connecticut residents, businesses, nonprofit organizations and stakeholders across the state,” he said in the release.
Vamos, also a University of Connecticut graduate who also served as the House Republican caucus’ principal policy analyst on energy-related matters, said strong, thoughtful energy policy is critical to Connecticut’s core issues.
“I have been proud to play a role in strengthening our ability to provide our essential services to customers more safely, reliably and affordably through policy initiatives in the state legislature,” Vamos said in the release. “I’m looking forward to continuing the conversation with elected officials to make UI, CNG, and SCG a key partner in ensuring these policies are as beneficial as possible for their constituents.”
Frank Reynolds, president and CEO of UI, CNG and SCG, said it’s more important than ever that the utilities have a strong team working with their partners in state government.
“With their extensive experience in the Connecticut General Assembly and elsewhere, they have first-hand experience in the complex legislative processes,” Reynolds said. “My sincere welcome to both John and Greg: all of us are excited to have you onboard.”
