CT Officials: Report Election Concerns To SEEC Hotline

by Donald Eng

HARTFORD, CT — Connecticut election officials urged voters and local election workers Monday to contact the state’s Election Day hotline if they see something that does not look right at their polling place on Tuesday, have concerns about how an absentee ballot is being handled or returned, or witness any other suspected voting irregularity.

The hotline will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. It can be reached by phone at 1-866-733-2463 (1-866-SEEC-INFO) or by email at elections@ct.gov.

The phone line will be staffed by SEEC personnel, and the email inbox will be monitored by SEEC staff along with members of SOTS’s Legislation and Elections Administration Division (LEAD). Voters with general questions — such as who may legally possess or return an absentee ballot — or who encounter potential voting irregularities — such as concerns related to curbside voting or trouble accessing ADA accommodations at a polling place — are encouraged to contact the hotline.

“The right to vote depends on every eligible voter being able to cast a ballot freely and with confidence,” said Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas. “If something does not look right or you have a question about the voting process, we encourage you to speak up. This hotline helps ensure that concerns can be directed quickly to the appropriate officials, whether they involve voter intimidation, another form of wrongdoing, or a question about the voting process.”

The State Elections Enforcement Commission is Connecticut’s independent, nonpartisan agency responsible for investigating and enforcing the state’s election laws. The Secretary of the State is Connecticut’s chief elections official. The office works with local registrars of voters and town clerks to support election administration in all 169 of the state’s municipalities.

Eligible primary voters can confirm their polling location and find additional election information at MyVote.CT.gov.
