Back-To-School Fair Draws Thousands

United Way Parent Ambassador Chantell Thompson: “Give some of that load to the community. We can carry it.”

Backpacks in every color. Books for all ages. Notepads in multiple sizes.

Immigrant rights pamphlets. Overdose-reversing Narcan. Sign-ups for security deposit assistance.

Those were among the many supplies and resources made available on Friday afternoon at New Haven Public Schools’ (NHPS) annual back-to-school fair at Bowen Field.

Roughly 4,000 peopled attended the event, which was designed to equip children and families both inside and outside the classroom.
